The School Council's first event of the year hosting our Macmillan coffee morning was a huge success. Each class was invited into the small hall for a cake, cookie or biscuit that were baked and donated by our staff and sat with their class to enjoy it.
Thank you for all the donations that we received at this charity event. We are very proud to announce that we raised over £500 that will go to MacMillan to support those living with cancer.
Once again, we supported and raised money for the NSPCC on their Number Day. We came to school dressed as numbers and TT Rock Stars for a fun-filled day of everything maths.
Meon Valley HeartStart ran life-saving training for our children.
The hour long sessions for each Year 1 to 6 class concentrated on how to approach a medical emergency safely, how to call for an ambulance and how to put someone into the recovery position. Year 4 to 6 went on to do a further 2 sessions that covered how to deal with serious bleeding and choking and how to recognise the signs of a heart attack. They learnt CPR and were introduced to defibrillation too.
Meon Valley HeartStart are a charitable organisation that is run by volunteers. As such, we held a non-uniform day where we welcomed donations for Heartstart to enable them to continue providing this life-saving service.
